About Middletown House

What people comment on most when they come to us is that the atmosphere is very homely, peaceful and warm.

Middletown House Nursing Home was originally built as a hotel but was converted to a Nursing Home in 1984. We accommodate 51 residents in a modern facility geared towards nursing people back to health or providing respite or palliative care. Our rooms are very well appointed (all have wifi, Sky TV is available) and residents enjoy extensive landscaped gardens to relax and walk in. The nursing home is set alongside independent living homes in a retirement village setting.

One of the things that makes Middletown House work as well as it does is that our team is very settled. We treat our staff well, so they stay with us and get to know our residents very well, including their individual likes and dislikes. Many of our team have been with us for more than 10 years.

Bedrooms

All our bedrooms are spacious and well appointed. All bedrooms have a television, 24-hour nurse call system and telephone and internet connections. Free Wi-Fi is available in the house.

We encourage our residents to personalise their room with photographs and other items that make it feel like their home.

Middletown House has 31 single rooms, and 10 sharing rooms where the Resident shares the room with one other Resident.

Outdoor Space

Residents have full access to over three acres of mature, landscaped grounds surrounding Middletown House, which feature both formal and informal gardens, native woodland plants, shrubs and trees, and a choice of walks with attractive countryside views.

Pastoral & Spiritual Care

Middletown House respects all religious denominations and caters for their spiritual needs. An Oratory is available for religious services and private prayer. It is also used for visits by the local parish priest to give Holy Communion (weekly) and celebrate mass (monthly). A Church of Ireland Minister calls monthly to say prayers and give communion.

We also provide a mini-bus to transport residents to religious services outside the nursing home on Sundays and holy days. Arrangements are also made to cater for the spiritual needs of residents of other denominations.

Food & Nutritional Care

We work with each resident and their family to create a dedicated food plan for each resident, taking into account their likes and dislikes, as well as their dietary and nutritional needs.

What People Say

Activities

We have a full-time activities coordinator who provides options for our residents to participate in a wide rage of events and activities seven days a week.

Participating in activities isn’t mandatory, but we do encourage residents to take part as it builds their social connectivity within the home and strengthens bonds between residents and staff. Social connectivity is a strong barometer of how well people do both inside and outside a nursing homes environment.

The calendar is always on view in our dedicated activities room and includes a focus on music, outings, BBQs, arts and crafts. We also specialise in providing Imagination Gym and Palliative Imagination Gym.

We encourage all residents, even short and respite stay, to make a piece for their room, which acts as a memento of their time with us.
